Look at the map of major characters’ movements in NYC made in CartoDB. CartoDB filters automatically, which will speed things up for users. It also makes it very easy display annotations. However, CartoDB does not accommodate historic maps. Even as it simplifies the process for users, CartoDB loses an element of historical context.
